BAD COMPANY FINISHES 3RD IN MARBLE FALLS

Race #4:
(8/18/10)
The SDBA season finale is in Marble Falls, TX, which is also Bad Company's home town... which also means a very busy week for the team.  Bad Company enters the event second in points with a chance to capture the championship, if Bad Company can come away with an event win.

QUALIFYING: ROUND 1:   Marcus was true to form as he once again set the boat beautifully.  Just before the finish line the motor's burst panel blew, giving Bad Company a 6.49 second time.  Up next, Habitforming flew through the 1000 ft course in 5.69 seconds.  Shazam missed round 1.

QUALIFYING:  ROUND 2:  The Bad Company team spent the time between rounds going through the motor, hoping to fix the issues that are causing the burst panel to blow.  When the call came for Top Alcohol Flats to head to the water, Bad Company was on its way.  Shazam was first to qualify in round 2.  Tony Scarlata flew Shazam through the course in 6.18 seconds at only 90 mph, having small issues with the boat.  Bad Company and Habitforming were next to qualify.  Both boats took off, Bad Company stopped the clocks in 5.85 seconds as the engine had issues before the finish line.  Habitforming took the #1 spot with a 5.36 second run through the course.

The Bad Company team went to work as soon as the boat returned to the pits.  The engine problems were worse than they initially thought.  The Bad Boyz rebuilt the spare motor through the evening and into the night, and fired up the motor at 2:30 am Sunday morning.

ELIMINATIONS:  SEMI-FINALS:  BAD COMPANY VS SHAZAM:  Marcus had the advantage over Tony as he had the better reaction time.  The hometown crowd cheered as Bad Company flew down Lake Marble Falls.  Just before the finish line Bad Company's engine woes continued.  Shazam went around him and took the win with a time of 5.44 seconds to Bad Company's 5.76 seconds.  Shazam advances to the finals against Habitforming (who had bye run to the finals).

ELIMINATIONS:  FINALS:  HABITFORMING VS SHAZAM:  Shazam took the win as Habitforming left too soon bringing out the red light.

BAD COMPANY FINISHES 2ND IN CHOUTEAU, OK  Race #3: (8/10/10)

QUALIFYING:  ROUND 1:  Bad Company and Night Moves are the first pair of Top Alcohol Flats to qualify.  Both boats take off and fly through the 1000 ft. course.  Night Moves stopped the clocks in 5.58 seconds, but the clocks malfunctioned in Bad Company's lane so there was no time at the finish line.  The race officials told crew chief Jimmy Kinsey they are intitled to a rerun as soon as they can get ready.  The clock continued to malfunction for the next pair of TAF boats, Shazam and Habitforming.  They both got no time and will be coming back for a rerun with Bad Company.

BAD COMPANY SETS NEW E.T. WORLD RECORD AND WINS OKC NATIONALS!!
Race #1: (6/15/10)

The Bad Company Racing Team traveled to Oklahoma City, OK for the Southern Drag Boat Association's season opening event, 2010 OKC Nationals.  Before the races began the race officials called a drivers meeting to discuss changing the race course from a 1/4 mile to 1000 ft. for all pro classes.  After hearing many opinions of the drivers the officials decided to make the change.  So, all previous records were erased and the new record was up for grabs.

On Saturday, June 12, 2010, Marcus Kinsey drove Bad Company through the 1000 ft. course in 5.52 seconds at 144.45 mph. That put Bad Company in the #1 qualifying spot of a five boat field, which included the defending world champion and a previous TAF record holder. That run also put a leg on a new e.t. world record.  The Bad Company team decided to sit out of the second round of qualifying to save things for eliminations on Sunday.

On Sunday morning (June 13, 2010), Bad Company was paired up with The Oklahoman for the first round of eliminations.  Marcus once again flew through the course stopping the clocks in 5.55 seconds at 144.45 mph, which backs up the previous run to set the e.t. record at 5.52 seconds!!  Bad Company also advanced to the finals.  In the Top Alcohol Flat final round, Bad Company was paired with Night Moves.  Night Moves left a little early bringing out the red light and Bad Company took the win!!  At the out ramp Marcus and the Bad Company crew interviewed by SPEED TV. SPEED TV also had a camera mounted on the wing of the boat for a different perspective of the races.  Look for this race to be aired on SPEED July 10, 2010 at 12 and 12:30 PM
